The sole purpose of this website to both educate and harvest more knowledge about the Ballinasloe Line of The Grand Canal. For over 133 years this now long forgotten branch of the Grand Canal was once major transport artery for both Ballinasloe & the West of Ireland. Goods & produce of all sorts also passengers depended on this line to go about their business and the harbour in Ballinasloe town was once a major site of commerce.
